Airolem Simes

“I’m n-not as strong as Mister Khaadgrim… I’m n-not as courageous as Mister Cham, either… b-but I have the c-capability to be and that’s what counts!” – Airolem

A tiny and timid Forsaken, Airolem Simes was once a young girl with a severe mental handicap, only able to deal with the bare necessities such as eating and moving. Wishing to give her a better lifestyle her father spun a hat infused with magical energies that compensated with her defects and allowed her to live a normal life. However, the magical energies did not compensate with the physical illnesses of her mental defects and she died months later.

Whether or not this was fortunate is debatable. A few days after her death Prince Arthas returned from Northrend and swiftly claimed the throne of Lordaeron with the Scourge at his beck and call. During the takeover every member of the Simes family was slaughtered and risen as undead minions… at least, assumedly.

Airolem’s father, Maejorlem, was believed to have survived the onslaught and escape but his whereabouts are still a mystery. Airolem was not risen as a Scourge slave because the necromancers believed her body to be useless as a little child since she died at the very young age of fourteen. How she was risen isn’t known but based on the missing information tied together by her companions they believe her father resurrected her.

Personality and Traits

Mostly keeping to herself, Airolem usually spends her time knitting and doing menial work such as organizing and carrying when she can. She is extremely shy and timid and ends up stuttering when trying to talk to strangers, possibly even running away if she can. The little Forsaken can always be seen fidgeting with her fingers or rubbing her fleshless jaw, looking as if stuck in daydreams or simply in thought.

While she has an affinity for pyromancy she rarely uses her abilities because she has yet to master them; if she ever feels endangered or angry (which is extremely rare) her powers could possibly annihilate her and everyone around her. This possibility causes her to stick with at least two or more Freelance Carriers during work hours.

Her hat has given her the ability to retain thoughts, retrieve previous memories from her past life and forge new ones as she explores her life of undeath. For some reason consuming spice bread allows the magic infused within her hat to recharge and keep her mind in check. Airolem believes it’s because she recalls the taste in her previous life but the truth is anyone’s guess.

Apparel

Airolem is mostly seen wearing her black and purple robes from before death. She recalls her mother and father being tailors and supposedly knows that she herself can sew, knit and repair cloth as well. Due to that her robes are in good condition even after being buried for so long.

Her hat is a perfect match for her robes, both with the same color scheme of black and purple. While she doesn’t recall if the hat was buried with her it’s believed it wasn’t. Like her robes her hat is also in good condition save for some small frays here and there. The hat also emits a small aura of magic that magic users may or may not sense when close to her.

Opposite her clothes, Airolem’s body barely has any skin on it and most of her bones show straight through. She is frail and very short, only sizing up to 4″5 and always seems to have a look of worry on her face. The flesh on her jaw is completely gone and rotting bone is only evident.

Her crusty black hair is swept back and kept down by her hat. Over her robes there are several pouches with tailoring equipment and one pouch dedicated solely for spice bread.
